There are remarkably fewer doctoral programs in my area. Another issue, frankly, was I was not ready to write a thesis when I was making the committment to grad school.

There are doctoral programs in my area but I didnt want a research based program so I chose the PsyD. The programs I am applying to are not even close to where I live. There are only 5 APA accredited PsyD program in School Psych, there are 4 in New York, 1 in New Jersey. I am from Florida. Not exactly a car ride away. I just wanted to know why most go for a PhD instead of a PsyD (other than the small number of available programs).
